Thanksgiving in my Heart ! Day 23

Today, I'm thankful for another day! Each day is a gift, and one not to be taken for granite. Today we had lots of extra cuddles and hugs! And I even got to rock my almost big girl baby girl! (She isn't much on being held and rocked!) Perfect gifts!!!!

Hugs and Blessings,

The House that Built Me!!! (song and my story)

Where do I even Start this at?!! I miss the house I grew up in! And it held such awesome memories, that it is a real push for us to finally settle down some place , so that our girls can have that same feeling about home! (So Fed Ex, if you are out there anywhere, STOP moving us!) I mean, Dad built on and did things to make it what Momma wanted, and it was a great home for our family! It was full of lots of memories! Good and Bad! And Just like the song says, my favorite dog was buried in the yard there. I really miss this house, the neighborhood, the fun, the hard times! No it wasn't the greatest house, or even a fancy house, but it was our home and it was filled with lots of love!!!!!! And I am who I am from growing up in that home with my GREAT parents! And we had a great front porch! And let me tell you, if that porch could talk, it would have more stories than you can imagine!!! It was the GREATEST place for front porch sittin'! It was the house that the friends gathered at! Dad would have hot dog roasts for us all! We had an awesome garden, and a GREAT tree for climbing! We played volleyball, and the butane tank was our net! We would sock skate in the dinning room and kitchen! We played in the front yard and the open field (2 full lots) across the street from us, until the street lights came on! It was the place I learned about hot guys and fast cars! Don't think bad right there, but Dad built race cars and so their was always YOUNG hot guys, even though they were too old for me, I did lots of dreaming and wishing! It was the gathering place for Holidays, and everyone was welcome! The more the merrier! It truly is a place that holds the keys as to why I am who I am, and holds some really special and precious memories! A place, I thought I'd never care to go back to, but I wish I could go visit and just sit and think there! I can see my momma standing at that kitchen sink there, her beautiful black hair! Or the extra rocking chair in our dinning room that provided another place for her to rock them babies! I can see Thanksgiving Dinners, and then clean up and time to put up our Christmas tree! Or the bed room floor that I did homework on all my life! And the building a house project with my dad, when I built a house I'd one day love to have! A place I felt so much peace and comfort and never knew just how hard life could really be! I never realized, even through the hard and really tough times, that life could be hard and unfair! I had so much peace and happiness there! It was a great place!!! I could go on and on and on, but it really was a special place!

So here's the lyrics to the song that inspired this post today! Every time I hear this song, it totally takes me back there!!!

The House that Built Me ~ Miranda Lambert

I know they say you can’t go home again
I just had to come back one last time
Ma’am I know you don’t know me from Adam
But these handprints on the front steps are mine

Up those stairs in that little back bedroom
Is where I did my homework and I learned to play guitar
I bet you didn’t know under that live oak
My favorite dog is buried in the yard

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
This brokenness inside me might start healing
Out here it’s like I’m someone else
I thought that maybe I could find myself
If I could just come in I swear I’ll leave
Won’t take nothing but a memory
From the house that built me

Mama cut out pictures of houses for years
From Better Homes and Gardens magazine
Plans were drawn and concrete poured
Nail by nail and board by board
Daddy gave life to mama’s dream

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
This brokenness inside me might start healing
Out here it’s like I’m someone else
I thought that maybe I could find myself
If I could just come in I swear I’ll leave
Won’t take nothing but a memory
From the house that built me

You leave home and you move on and you do the best you can
I got lost in this old world and forgot who I am

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
This brokenness inside me might start healing
Out here it’s like I’m someone else
I thought that maybe I could find myself
If I could walk around I swear I’ll leave
Won’t take nothing but a memory
From the house that built me

You see a video of Miranda Lambert's ACM performance of this very moving song!

Thank you for taking this little somewhat comforting/ healing trip down memory lane with me!!!!

Thanksgiving in my Heart ~ Day 22

Today, I'm thankful that I feel totally united in what our new location desires are! For the first time, I am glad to say we are working together on our wish list of things in a home and the parts of the new area we would like too. We are so very excited for the move, and it feels great to be on the same page!!! Thank you, God!!!

Thanksgiving in my Heart ~ Day 21

I'm so thankful for the touches of Christmas around the house! Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and I love everything about it!

This was Momma's Ribbon box, and I am so glad to have it! I bought lots of ribbon to fill up, so I can get busy making Momma bows for all the Christmas gifts!

A wild and crazy all colored bow, just like Momma would do!!!

We started decorating our trees too!!! (Very late for us, but it's getting there!!!)

The girls tree in their room!!!!

I'm truly thankful for everything about Christmas!!!!

Thanksgiving in my Heart ~ Day 19

Adoption! Nov 20, 2010 is National Adoption Day! And I'm so thankful for the most awesome gift I have ever been given, the gift of a child by the arms of God, through Adoption!!! It is not easy, as many think it is! It's a lot of stuff to get done, no matter which way you go through the process! I have done Private and CPS/ DCFS and I am telling you, they both have their own quirks and issues! But never the less, they are both way worth it!!!! It's trully the delight of my life!!!! I wouldn't change one part of either one of our adoptions!!!

Lil E learned to swing herself today!!! And Lil K learned to pedal the trike! And daddy sang to us on his new Karaoke machine! They played wii and we just spent a GREAT family day together!!! We even picked up each of our own 2010 Christmas ornament today!!! They are all so cute!!! I can't wait to show them to you!!!!

Thanksgiving in my Heart ~ Day 18

I'm so thankful that I am surrounded by the GREATEST and most caring friends! It means so much that they have called or come by to check on me! And to offer their help and support! It really is great!!! More than I could have ever expected! I can't imagine my life without them! They rock!!!

Thanksgiving in my Heart ~ Day 17

Day 17 ~

I'm thankful for unanswered prayers! Sometimes we don't know what is best for ourselves! We think we do, but sometimes, we are wrong. And I have been really wrong on some wishes, and I'm so thankful that God did not answer my prayers with what I wanted, but instead is showing me that he knows best!!! It really is something I'm so thankful for! As the old Garth Brooks' song says, "Some of God's GREATEST gifts, are unanswered prayers!" And that's for sure!!!
