Family Reunion

We went back home in May for a family reunion! It was lots of fun, and yet it was very hard. It’s my dad’s family and I sure did miss him not being with us! But it was great fun! The kids had fun! And I’m really thankful to have this relationship with the family and wish we had done this sooner.

Oh do you see the was the leader of playing in the water fountain! All day! She climbed up there and taught the other little ones, how to spray the water at everyone! I’m not to sure all the other parents will appreciate that, but they had a blast and were making memories.

Here’s a picture of me and my sisters.

After being with the family all day, I was really missing my parents, and grandparents. On the drive back to where we were staying we took the scenic route and went some some places that held a lot of great memories.

the above house is were my Grandparents lived! The bushes were not there and I can remember sitting on the porch and the Easter Egg hunts and so much.

This is the little Church that my Grandparents attended. We even had many dinners and get togethers there for all the family, as there was more room for us all, in the Fellowship hall.

So it was a very emotional time, but one of comfort in the lasting memories of my amazing family!

This was our 2nd annual family reunion, and I am really looking forward to many more years and family reunions. I think it’s really important to connect and keep making memories.

Tea Party

At the end of July we had a girls only family weekend mini vacation! And we kicked it off in great style! We had a tea party in a down town tea room! We all dressed the part, and many memories were had!!! The little girls thought they were grown up to get to use the real china, or "fancy stuff" as they called it.

We had big floppy hats, pretty dresses, and lots of feathers and other girly goodies.

Lil K gave me the first scare by flipping that cup around. We were told if the cups or saucers were broken, we had to buy them!

Lil E was so proper, and Lil K was my Fashion Diva!

Lots of fun of the family!

We ended our tea party on the steps with a group photo!

I know it isn't something we would all do again like that together, but was worth every moment of planning, hat hunting, dressing up, and stress of the broken china! It was a real delight! A super special treat! And to ee the smiles, everyone was beaming!!! A memory we will forever cherish!!! What a beautiful start to our girls get away!

Memorial Day Weekend/ Family Reunion

It was our annual family reunion over Memorial Day weekend! We all come together for so much fun!!!! Some boat and fish out on the lake, and some of us enjoy the pool and the kid pool. We have so much fun and everyone just runs around and does whatever it is that want to do! There is always a lot of laughs!

Lil E was busy using 2 ring floats in the pool! And Lil K was busy wearing goggles that were too big for her!

Lil K has no fear of the water, and would tell you to "yet go of me" if you were helping her in the pool! She loved it all! Life jacket, rings, whatever you had her in, she was happy as can be!

Lil E loves the run and jump in the little pool and make big splashes!!! Boy some things never change! She has the BEST of time int he little pool!

Do you see those eggs? How awesome is that! Momma bird would sit on them out in the yard! We did lie to the kiddos and tell them that part of the yard had ants, so please stay away from there, and they did.

It's not all fast paced! We spend lots of time taking it easy too!! That's for sure!

We have horse shoes and volleyball set up too! It is just tons of fun for everyone!! You can find something to do.

What's a get together without some yummy grub too! Saturday night we did brats and hot dogs and all the fixings! Then Sunday evening was our annual Fish Fry! YUMMY! Fried catfish fillettes and all sorts of yummy sides! WE had pinto beans, corn bread, potato salad, mac and cheese, cheesey corn, baked beans, brisket and who knows what all else! It was the best!!!! AFter all that, we had some yummy watermelon!!!

Monday we had to drive home! But it wasn't without much thought and appreciation to our Service men and women for all they do for our great Country! God Bless yall!

The flags were out in many of the small towns as we got closer to home! It made me so happy to know that even though I live in podunkville, USA, that we still show our Pride and respect for the Holiday!

We did stop and get us snowcones on our way home, Monday evening! They were the best end to a wonderful weekend!!!
Hope you too had a wonderful Memorial Weekend and that you remember to thank some Service men (past or present).

We had some fun!

We had a great weekend and are looking forward to next years! It was lots of fun as usual! We always manage to have a great time! And it is nice to see all the family (and that includes all the friends we have adopted as family through the years!) more than just a few hours, like at most of the Holidays. Our family is so much fun, and everyone is always welcome, and we all have the freedom to bring our own friends and everyone else makes them feel part of the family and welcome! It is really something special about my family! We have the best get togethers! But I have to say the HillBilly Reunion (as they have named it) is the best, it's longs and just way more fun! Everyone brings stuff to share for dinners, and for entertainment! So there is always something going on. It may be a friendly game of cards, or maybe a ball game or just some leisure time fishing! And lots of laughs at all the kiddos having so much fun!!!

Saturday everyone gets there, and the real fun starts! This year we had lots of fun going on. We had volleyball, tether ball, top toss and horse shoes (Both of the adults and the kids). And for some water fun, there was 2 small kid pools set up, a big dual slip n slide, a silly sprinkler, and tons of water guns and balloons! Then the usual outside toys and card games too! So it was really fun! We all played volleyball, and when my oldest sister starts a game, we play by her rules, and that is everything goes. You can hit the ball as many times as you want, and you yourself can hit it back to back and much more. She makes it up as she goes and makes us all laugh! Everyone was glad to see tether ball this year! It was a hit for sure! I know at one time, there was like 10 people playing the game! The little ones had a ball going from water toy to water toy! And it wasn't too hot! Thank you, Jesus! Yes the big kids usually hit the slip n slide and well another poured on the dish soap, but it didn't stay long, before it was washed off, as the little ones took the slip n slide over!

Saturday night we had a yummy dinner! Hubby made his awesome briskets! And boy they were much better than last years. (he wasn't the brisket cook for the reunion then.) Then we had a ham, potato salad, beans, bread, chips, and such! Then most went fishing! But a few of us didn't go, and my sister Laura and I made a 2 batches of Strawberry Freezer Jam! It turned out beautiful. I'll have to take a picture and share it with you tomorrow, and the recipe too. We shared the jars and everyone loved them! I have big plans for next year! Can't share, as some will see it here!
Then it was back to fun on Sunday! The kids had more fun and laughs, as did we all! And today, everyone was still talking about something funny or what they loved most! Everyone was calling each other and saying, aww, we had so much fun, I laughed so hard at this or that! What a great feeling when you walk away from the event and everyone had lots of fun! Even if it isn't always perfect, you gotta remember, you are a family and the love is there!

My sweet hubby and I on Sunday evening! (below) Dinner was awesome then too! We had so much stuff! We had 2 cheese cakes, a lemon cake, a fish fry with fish fillets and hush puppies, we had beans, left over potato salad, mac and cheese (my sister's and it's always the best!), cucumber salad, fresh sliced tomatoes, and carrots! Oh and how could I forget, a smoked turkey breast! It was all so yummy!! And everyone kept letting Lil K have more cake! She wanted it, they would say! Then we ended the last night together all sitting around the fire and just talking and laughing! It was a beautiful night and not to hot, and the memories we went through made it so awesome!!!!

It was time to say our good byes and head back home on Monday! And we did just that! We were all so glad to be home! The girls were ready to get back on schedule and all too! Below is a picture of the loves of my life, right after we got back home, Monday.

Today, was back to normal! But I did call and get cabins reserved for next year! Oh I can't wait! We are moving to a new location. I have to say I was reluctant to give up our special spot, but I do believe for the fun of everyone and space, it will be better. The new locations has lots more to offer everyone and still be at a lake for some good fun. And today, I did the reservations for 8 cabins, and it appears we could nead up to 3 more for next year! Lots and lots of fun!! Here's to the Hillbilly Reunion! Thank you all for the wonderful time! See yall for more fun next year!
